Stylized Buildings - Making Of - Unreal 5.5

As a homage to the classic 2D city-builder games I grew up with in the late '90s like Knights and Merchants and The Settlers 3 I wanted to reimagine how these games might look in a modern 3D engine.

This project explores a series of buildings and landscape, that I want to share some of the results and a breakdown of my workflow.
A key goal was to build a scalable pipeline that would allow me to add new buildings all with solid performance. I rely heavily on baked masks to blend tiling materials together for a unique toy look.

I also want to give a shout out to Martin Elsaesser for his awesome feedback. https://www.artstation.com/espen
And to Stefan Zeibekis who created a Hunter's Hut using this workflow. https://www.artstation.com/kito4444
